The Top 10 Best Guitar Websites On The Web

OF COURSE, THE GUITAR PLAYER GEAR GUIDE *HAD* TO BE INCLUDED, TOO…WE’RE GREAT, AFTER ALL!

BUT DID THE LIST MISS ANY COOL SITE? POST YOUR THOUGHTS…WITH LINKS!

Guitars, guitars, guitars!

Love guitars? Of course you do! So find out which are the ten best web sites for guitar fanatics…if you’re into guitars, you must know those websites!

1. GIBSON.COM

Gibson Website

Besides the usual features you’d expect from a manufacturer website, with great pics and info about their guitars, what truly makes www.gibson.com is their news-lifestyle section. You don’t need to own – or even play – Gibson guitars to fully enjoy it: artists features, guitar lessons, interesting articles and excellent tone tips, usually by Dave Hunter, make the official Gibson.com a site you simply must visit if you love guitars!

2. HARMONY CENTRAL

Harmony Central

This website is not exclusively about guitars, and is generally a great place for anyone interested in any sort of musical gear info: tons of resources including news, reviews and forums about guitars, drums & percussion, software and much more. If you’re a guitarist, the user reviews about guitars and effects pedals on Harmony Central can be very, very useful in helping you to decide which gear you want to buy…and, even if the reviews don’t change your mind, they make interesting read for any gear heads.

3. YOU TUBE

You Tube

Of course, there’s much not to like on You Tube, but, for guitar fanatics, it can also be mana from heavens: never before so much great footage has been so readily available to the public, from rare footage of guitar legends (such as Jimmy Page playing with The Yardbirds on French TV) to brand new live footage from major acts just a few hours after their gigs took place. Also, You Tube is a great place to check user demos of guitars and FX pedals…of course, the quality (of demonstrators, playing, sound, image) can vary greatly, but still, they help making YouTube an essential stop for any guitarist. And, on top of that, most major brands, such as Fender, Gibson,  and Dean have You Tube channels, with their own, professional videos. Of course, don’t forget to visit the Dolphin Music You Tube Channel, which contains exclusive video content such as Vox AC30 demo, Orange Tiny Terror demo and much more! How could you not love YouTube?

4. MUSIC RADAR

Music Radar

Like a few of the sites who are on this list, Musicradar.com is not exclusively about guitars, but a good amount of their features, including news, reviews and tutorials, focus on guitars and are of excellent quality, making this another essential stop. And their list of the most outrageous guitars is simply hilarious…check it out!

5. THE GUITAR PLAYER GEAR GUIDE

The Guitar Player Gear Guide

Want to know what gear Jack White uses? Or Noel Gallagher? Want to see pictures of My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields’ pedalboard? Or find out what gear The Arctic Monkeys are currently using? Quite simply, there’s no blog like this one currently on the web, where you can find in one place, info about the gear used by so many top artists, as well as all the latest news and guitar articles, compiled from all over the web, making the Guitar Player Gear Guide an unique and essential stop for guitarists, already used as source of info on several Wikipedia articles and visited by players from all over the world, from North to South America, Europe and Asia…and, oh yeah, we  make it, did we need to mention?

6. LICK LIBRARY

Lick Library

The site contains a continually expanding archive of guitar lessons, guitar tuition columns, guitar tutorial DVD’s, guitar backing tracks and much more. Lick Library is the website to go if you’re looking for great video tutorials. The quality of the content is outstanding, and the website also contains exclusive channels for Marshall, Line 6, Ashdown, PRS and even Dolphin Music!

7. GUITARGEEK

Guitargeek

Ok, let’s admit it – most of us guitarists are a bit of geeks, who obssess about every single minutiae of guitar-related gear. GuitarGeek not only spells it out, but provide (via some pretty cool graphics) a look into the guitar rigs of hundreds of well-known guitarists. The website doesn’t seem to enjoy the same reputation it once had, as it’s not always 100% accurate, but hey – figuring out hundreds of rigs was never going to be an easy task! It’s quite interesting and if you have any doubts about any guitar rig, you can always use their forum, which seems to enjoy quite a bit of activity still.

8. FENDER.COM

Fender

Hey…how could we forget Fender? We couldn’t, of course! And Fender.com is a great place to be if you love all things Fender. Find the latest news, wallpapers, Fender artist profiles and videos,  and discuss Fender on the community forums.

9. BOSS US

Boss U.S.

Boss are the world’s leading manufacturer of FX pedals, and many, many guitarists rely on Boss for their tones. The BOSS website is excellent, with podcasts, downloads, audio & video, knowledge base and, best of all, some really cool interactive demos

10. VINTAGE GUITARS

Vintage Guitars

The vintageguitars.org.uk website is fascinating if you want to find out more about old and discontinued guitars, basses, fx and amps. From complete specs of an Epiphone Coronet to old Fender Mustang ads, this site has loads of info…it’s a great a trip down memory lane for older folks, and very educational if you’re a new enthusiast of vintage guitars and would like to learn more about them.
