Gibson Sponsors the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards Presentation of the Living Legend Award to Jimmy Page
I never heard of these awards before, but they honoured guitar legend Jimmy Page, and Keith Richards snorting his dad made it into the Top 5 events of the year…so let’s have a look at the nominations.
Gibson is proud to announce the sponsorship of the “Living Legend” award at this year’s Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards. The prestigious award is being given to the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. This will be Classic Rock Magazine’s third annual award show, which takes place on Monday 5th November 2007 at London’s Landmark Hotel.
As half of one of rock’s most famous partnerships, Jimmy Page has been responsible for some of the most significant rock records of all time including ‘Whole Lotta Love’, ‘Stairway To Heaven’, ’Black Dog’, ‘Dazed & Confused’, ‘Immigrant Song’ as well as a noted producer, session musician, Yardbirds guitarist and collaborator to everyone from the Black Crowes to Puff Daddy!
“Jimmy Page has earned his reputation as one of the word’s greatest guitarists having helped shape and influence rock music around the world. The Classic Rock Magazine Roll Of Honour “Living Legend” award only confirms Jimmy’s status and global appreciation as a true master of his craft. I am proud for Gibson Guitar to be sponsoring this prestigious and important award and wish Jimmy Page well” said Henry Juszkiewicz Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp.
Chris Ingham publisher of Classic Rock Magazine commented: “Each year the Roll of Honour further cements its position as the awards that the stars really care about. The list of stars attending last year’s ceremony was unsurpassed and with the awards taking place in the exclusive surroundings of the Landmark Hotel, plus the fantastic news that Classic Rock magazine continues to be the UK’s fastest growing music magazine means this year’s awards will again be the event of the year”.
In another year dominated by reformations and heritage acts, the Roll of Honour nominations feature many of the world’s biggest rock stars as well as the unsung and often overlooked heroes of rock n’ roll.
